Abstract
A low-cost and practical route is described to prepare carbon nanospheres (CNSs) by the pyrolysis of nanospherical polyacrylonitrile (PAN). By coating with a layer of titanium phosphate, PAN particles were effectively protected from aggregation in the pyrolysis process, allowing CNSs with an average size of 50 nm to be obtained.
