Abstract
The work of this paper is to study the relationship between the opening size and the critical wind speed of smoke overflow under the ambient wind. The critical wind speed was obtained by fitting the length of smoke overflow at different wind speed, and the length of smoke overflow were determined by the temperature measurement characteristics of the thermocouple. It found that at a low wind speed the smoke moves upward and overflows from the upperpart of the opening, however, as the wind speed increasing, the wind pressure restrains smoke from overflowing. The fitting between the opening size and the critical wind speed indicates the critical wind speed increases with the size of the opening, and shows a linear relationship. Through the study found that firepower has a certain impact on the relationship between the critical wind speed and opening size.
