Abstract

The transformation behavior of the shape memory alloy Ti 47.5Ni47.5Cu5 was studied. As for this alloy, Cu atom can take both the position of Ni atom and that of Ti atom. The alloy consists of a lot of base phase and a little of Cu-rich phase and Ti-rich phase. Under aging at 550°C for 5 hours, Cu content of base phase is higher and the amount of Cu-rich phase is less. The alloy transformation behavior also is also influenced by the heat treatment. When the alloy is treated at 850°C for 15 minute then quenched, it goes through the transformation of B2→B19'. When the alloy is aged at 550°C for 5 hour, it goes through two stage phase.
