Abstract

A kind of carbon fiber (CF) and graphite (Gr) modified PTFE bilayer composite was prepared in this paper. The CF reinforced PTFE was used as friction layer, while the Gr filled PTFE was designed as thermal conductive layer. The tribological properties and thermal conductivity of the bilayer composite were also investigated in this paper. Results showed that the wear rate of 15 wt% CF and 30 wt% Gr modified PTFE bilayer composite is about 11% lower than that of 15 wt% CF filler PTFE. The contact temperature study indicated that the contact temperature for the bilayer composite with 30 wt% Gr is about 7 °C lower than that of 15wt% CF/PTFE composite without thermal conductive layer.
