Abstract
The chemical stability of aluminum nitride powder surface-coated with stearic acid and Tween-80 in aqueous environment was studied. The treated powder did not react with water at 20-60°C at a constant pH value of 9.88. The result of X-ray diffraction shows that there is mainly AlN phase when the treated powder directly contacted with water for a long period of time. The surface of aluminum nitride powder coated with hydrophobic films can form a diffusion barrier between water and AlN surface, restrain hydrolysis reaction and increase the water-resistance of AlN powder in wet environment.
