摘要

Atmospheric pressure non-equilibrium plasma (APNP) can produce a variety of reactive components while maintaining a low or even ambient gas temperature. Thus APNP possesses tremendous potentials in biomedical applications, and plasma medicine becomes a highly regarded emerging research field. Since the first plasma medicine research paper was published in 1996, the field has seen significant development, although it still faces several core scientific challenges that need to be addressed. This paper reviews the research progress in plasma medicine, and discusses the core scientific issues and the biological safety of plasma. Additionally, this paper briefly introduces the achievements in key applications of plasma medicine, such as microbial sterilization, wound healing, cancer treatment, transdermal drug delivery, and skin disease treatment. Moreover, the formulation of standards and regulations for plasma medicine is preliminarily discussed. Finally, the prospects in the future of plasma medicine are put forward.
