A multifunctional cool material with contamination-resistant and anti-icing characters based on the application of fluorinated TiO2

摘要

The integration of versatile properties, like hydrophobic, contamination-resistant, anti-icing and high-reflective, is highly desirable for the next-generation cool material. Herein, such kind of multifunctional cool material is realized by simply mixing acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (ASA) resin with fluorine-modified titanium dioxide (TiO2). The fluoro-organic chains perform high-efficient influence on the surface wettability, which further promotes the desired features. Owing to the presence of air layer and decreased water contact area, the as-prepared cool material performs improved freezing delay time up to 825 s and excellent contamination-resistant feature even after immersion in dyes for five days. Simultaneously, the cool material displays higher near-infrared (NIR) reflectance up to 54.2%, which induces great cooling effect of about 7 °C lower than that of polymer matrix. The successful combination of several properties offers a scalable technology for next-generation cool material with desired multifunctional features.
