A power-modulated accelerating rate calorimetry for varying heat capacity measurement during thermal decomposition

摘要

Due to the lack of the methodology of measuring the varying specific heat capacity during the adiabatic reaction, in almost all the existing kinetic approaches for accelerating rate calorimetric data process, the specific heat capacity of the sample is considered as constant. This leads to errors in thermodynamic and kinetic parameters calculation. To overcome this shortcoming, a power-modulated accelerating rate calorimetry for varying heat capacity measurement is proposed and instrumented in this article. And the corresponding kinetics approach is presented with the varying heat capacity consideration. With the suppositional varying heat capacity setting, the validities of the proposed methodology are verified through numerical simulations. With the low mass percent di‑tert‑butyl peroxide/toluene solutions experiments, the feasibility of the developed calorimeter for varying heat capacity measurement is tested, preliminarily. In addition, the deficiencies at the present stage and improvements of this instrument are analyzed and discussed at the end of the article.
