N2 - Electrodeless discharge lamp-assisted microwave catalytic degradation on nitrobenzene in simulated wastewater is studied. The influence factors, such as catalyst dosage, irradiation time, microwave power, and initial pH on degradation rate of nitrobenzene are, investigated. The optimal operating conditions are as follows: the catalyst dosage is 16 g/L, the microwave power is 500 W, and the initial pH is 5. After degradation for 8 min, the removal of the nitrobenzene is 99.2%. When the degradation time comes to 20 min under the optimal operating conditions, the COD removal is 82.5%. The kinetics study of degradation on nitrobenzene indicates that the degradation process accords with the first-order reaction kinetics. The reaction velocity constant k is 0.608 min-1, and the enhancement factor of the kinetics constant is 1.94. It is suggested that the microwave and the ultraviolet have a cooperative effect.
