Grain size and grain boundary effects on hydrogen induced nanovoid nucleation in polycrystalline Ni

摘要

A theoretical model was developed to study the effects of grain boundary (GB) structure and grain size on nucleation of nanovoid in the presence of hydrogen in polycrystalline Ni. The nanovoid nucleation rate at low angle grain boundary (LAGB) increases with decreasing the grain size as well as increasing the hydrogen concentration. The microstructure with high fraction of LAGBs shows the lower fraction of nanovoid, thus enhances the ductility and fracture toughness of materials.
