Hydrogen storage properties of LaMg2Ni prepared by induction melting

摘要

LaMg2Ni compound was prepared by induction melting, and its phase transformation during hydriding/dehydriding as well as hydrogen storage properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and pressure-composition isotherm (PCI) measurement. It was found that the reversible hydrogen storage capacity of LaMg2Ni alloy reaches 1.96 wt.%. The enthalpy and entropy derived from the van't Hoff equation for hydriding/dehydriding are -51 kJ/mol H2, -105 J/K mol H2 and 79 kJ/mol H2, 141 J/K mol H2, respectively. The kinetic curve for the hydriding at 561 K was well fitted by the Avrami-Erofeev equation.
