Progress and potential application of electrochromic materials

As one of the intelligent materials with huge potential applications, electrochromic materials were widely studied during the past several decades. The main electrochromic materials, namely the transition metal oxides, Prussian blue systems, viologens, conducting polymers and metal phthalocyanines were described. The structure of electrochromic devices was introduced. The problems and research interests of electrochromic materials were summarized and the future of electrochromic materials was also prospected.
