Reclaimed water irrigation in the Olympic Forest Park

Wastewater reclamation and reuse in the Olympic Forest Park are introduced. It is an effective way to solve the water shortage problem in Beijing. The effects of reclaimed water irrigation on grass and plants were evaluated by conducting plot experiment and field survey. Results showed that the secondary effluent can destroy the stability of plant cells. However, the tertiary water can not only provide adequate N, P and some microelements, but also reduce the heavy metals, which have little harm to the grass. In addition, the paper suggests that the irrigation standard of greenbelt should be more concreted based on the reclaimed water treatment technique.
