摘要

Defects serving as active sites play a critical role in catalysis of metal–organic frameworks, or even more broadly coordination network compounds (CNCs). Defect engineering has been demonstrated to be an efficient strategy for controlled introduction of defect for target catalytic reaction. To fill in the gap of the studies on the role of defects in catalysis, this chapter introduces the definition and classification, formation, and characterization of defects and finally focuses on the role of defect in catalytic activity of MOFs.
