A review on the synthesis methods and applications of zeolite membranes covers the most common synthesis technique of zeolite membranes, hydrothermal crystallization, including seeded growth and in situ growth method; application of zeolite membranes, e.g., gas separation, pervaporation, and membrane reactors; the MFI molecular sieve membranes; factors affecting crystal growth and membrane morphologies, e.g., porous supports, crystal seeds, gel compositions, and hydrothermal crystallization conditions; effects on separation properties of MFI membranes; latest progress in preparation of oriented MFI molecular sieve membranes; and further studies of zeolite membranes.
