Abstract
During the operation of the mechanical seal,the service life of the sealing face was affected by the solid particles in the seal cavity. In order to reduce the particle distribution quantity at the sealing face,the multiple reference frame method and the Euler two-phase flow model were used for medium side of the mechanical seal. The numerical simulation of the flow field in the cavity was carried out to investigate the effect of spring and pumping ring on the distribution and flow velocity of solid particles in the seal cavity on the medium side. The results show that the spring has a certain increase in the axial and radial velocity of the particles at the sealing face and the particle volume fraction reduced at the sealing face. On the basis of large springs,the pumping ring can further increase the velocity of the particles at the sealing face and reduce the volume fraction,which has certain reference and application value for reducing the wear of the friction surface and the design and improvement of the mechanical seal.
