Abstract

The anodic electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) of one kind of mesoporous silica - SBA-15 in aqueous system and its analytical application based on the ECL were reported for the first time. A stable and intensive anodic ECL emission of SBA-15 with a peak value at + 1.6 V (vs Ag/AgCl) in air saturated, 0.1 M pH 8.0 PBS at an indium tin oxide was obtained. Using dopamine as an analyte model, it can efficiently quench the ECL intensity of SBA-15 by energy transfer. Both ascorbic acid and uric acid and some cations, which were common interferences, did not interfere the detection in practical biological samples. Most important and interesting aspect of this work was that the ECL of SBA-15 could be extended to be applied in many other mesoporous silica. SBA-15 had an enhanced anodic electrochemiluminescence which would promote the application in fabricating sensors for chemical and biochemical analysis.
