Fabrication Methods for 2D Membranes

Abstract

Fabrication methods of two-dimensional (2D) nanosheets and 2D-material membranes are summarized in this chapter. Representative works on the top-down and bottom-up synthesis strategies of nanosheets are introduced. The strategies for constructing and manipulating the in-plane nanopores/slits or interlayer channels within 2D-material membranes for molecular separation are discussed. Interestingly, tuning the surface properties of these membranes can prominently intensify the mass-transport behavior. Finally, the opportunities and challenges concerning membrane fabrication are proposed as well.
