Abstract

In order to validate the safety of semi-opened tunnel with natural ventilation in fire and to research the tunnel fire plume characteristics, full-scale fire tests were designed and conducted in the built semi-opened tunnel. The diversification laws of smoke temperature and smoke longitudinal propagation data were collected. The test data were imitated by OriginPr07.5 software and the longitudinal diversification laws of smoke temperature varying with the distance from the fire source were gained. Prediction model of back-layer distance calculation was built by fire dynamics analysis. The fire test data were compared with the prediction results of the theoretical model to validate the dependability of the built theoretical models. Fire tests prove that the tunnel fire flame model and the formula built by Li Kaiyuan and H. Kurioka can be used for the research of fire in semi-opened tunnels.
