Abstract

The hydrothermal reactions of 5-bromoisophthalic acid (H2BIPA), benzotriazole (HBTA) with Cd(NO3)2 · 4H 2O in basified solvent gave rise to a coordination polymer [Cd 3(HBTA)2(BIPA)3]n (1), which has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 presents a two-dimensional (2D) layer network containing the edge-sharing 1D-O-Cd-O chains through repetitions of the alternating arrangement of the Cd3(CO2)6 cluster and displays strong luminescent emission at room temperature.
