Abstract

Urea L-malic acid (ULMA) crystal is a kind of organic nonlinear optical crystal investigated recently. It is found that the morphology of ULMA crystal grown in alcohol solution is of prism. The ULMA crystal growth is characteristics of ledge growth. When the supersaturation degree of ULMA in alcohol solution is low, the growth mechanism is screw dislocation growth; otherwise, when in high supersaturated solution, the two-dimensional nucleation growth is considered as the main growth mechanism.
