Abstract

In order to solve the application of SiC nanoparticles, sol-gel method was adopted to prepare SiC nanoparticles coated by ZnO. Calcination craft of their precursor was studied, also. Through the analyses of results of thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), etc, the coating layer of offspring was calcined from the zinc oxalate to ZnO when calcining for 2 h at 500°C. The peaks of ZnO were shaped with well-crystallized offspring. And the peaks of SiC became relatively weak. The characteristics absorption peaks of Zn-O appeared on the infrared spectrum of offspring, which indicates that ZnO with 10-20 nm was coated on the surface of relatively large SiC particles.
