Abstract

Synthesis of ethylene glycol by catalytic hydration was studied to substitute it for direct hydration. When the mass ratio of water and ethylene oxide was 4:1, then, under the optimum conditions of mass fraction of catalyst not less than 6% , reaction temperature > 45°C, and pressure > 0.5 MPa, the conversion of ethylene oxide reached 99.8% ,and selectivity of ethylene glycol was 99%.
