摘要

Experimental study on the anti-bending-moment capacity of 20 carbon steel pipe with full scale is performed by four-point bending tests. Six specimens containing pre-cracked through-wall cracks are observed, and result reveals that the EPRI method can be well applied to the capacity of the pipes against the crack starting growth. The limit capacity for the pipes against break should be appropriately approximated by the Matheck-Morawietz equation with a modification factor of slightly greater than unity to the material flowing strength, which is equal to a half of the yielding strength plus the ultimate strength of material. Present work provides a good reference to the engineering practice against the failure of pressure pipes, formed Leak Before break.
