A multisignaling chemosensor for Hg2+ based on poly (p-phenyleneethynylene) containing benzo [2, 1, 3] thiadiazole

摘要

A novel colorimetric and fluorometric chemosensor for Hg2+ detection is designed and synthesized based on poly (p-phenyleneethynylene) containing benzo [2, 1, 3] thiadiazole (PPE-BDT). A highly Hg2+-selective fluorescence quenching property in combination with a visible colorimetric change of solution from yellow to violet can be observed, and it shows that PPE-BDT can serve as a sensitive "naked-eye" indicator for Hg2+. The coordination of Hg2+ to the sulfur atom of benzo [2, 1, 3] thiadiazole leads to inter-chain π-π interactions, thus it is responsible for the significant variations on the photophysical properties of the polymer.
