Abstract

A strong base anion exchange resin with comb-like flexible chain(flex-AIQ-R)structure was synthesized by the reaction of triethylamine hydrochloride with comb-like epoxy resin which was prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), using the chloroacetyl styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer microspheres (PS-acyl-Cl) as the initiator and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) as monomer. Several factors were discussed and optimized during the reaction, such as pH of the solution, reaction time, reaction temperature, the amount of catalyst and reagents. The final optimum conditions obtained are as follows: the pH value of the solution is 8~9, the reaction time is 10 h, reaction temperature is 90°C, catalyst amount is 2%, molar ratio of triethylamine hydrochloride and resin is 5:1, the amount of solvent is 10 mL/g and ethanol content is 40%. Under the above conditions, the conversion rate and maximum loading of the diethyl-amine can be up to 85% and 2.78 mmol/g, respectively.
